we`re all mad here

about me!

myself in a few words: friend, husband, entrepreneur, software craftsman, data manipulation fanatic, open source enthusiastic, parsing maniac, coffee addicted and beer drinker.

well… i live in são paulo with my gang (a lovely wife and two female little dogs – that here at home we call them kids), most of time i'm in great mood and with a big smile in my face – i'm also always trying to escape from unproductive meetings and i code as much as i can.

i'm a dreamer, but the type of dreamer that dreams awake – which people use to call entrepreneur. i'm working hard to create what i know that will change the way how all information technology professionals work (including you!) – through the semantic-it concept.

this entrepreneurship is focused on openspotlight, an open source project that i lead, wich aims to be the first implementation of semantic-it concept – that i usually explains commercially with a simple phrase "a google™ for information technology".

i've been working on software development since ever i was 14 years old (in that time as intern at cpm sistemas), during my career i had luck to program in several languages: cobol, jcl, easytrieve, natural/adabas, visual basic, c#, c++ and java nowadays.

i use to do some lectures/talks in events (national and international), not as much (or good) as my friend edgar silva, but enough to be kind-of regular presenter ;), here and here are some of my presentations at antlr conference 2009 and recently i've been on jbossinbossa (the most important jboss user group event of latin-america).

my professional specialization is around parsing, nowadays just using antlr. i enjoy parsing – i think i created openspotlight just to be able to do some real work around parsing ;) – one of my most used parsers, outside openspotlight, i think is on drools – a project that i'm proud to be commiter!

during my career i've been always unconfortable with relational databases and our aproach to always use it as a silver bullet to store data (to be honest i think i'm not smart enought to understand a sql statement with more than 2 joins), they never fitted well on my needs and these are the main reasons that i'm really involved on nosql movement (in 2010 i promoted the first nosql meetup in brasil and i'm starting to think about the second edition).

during the weekends i try to hang out with my wife and friends to have some fun – what usually involves barbecuing and drinking lots of beer!

the phrase that drives my life: "don't take life too seriously; you'll never get out of it alive.", elbert hubbard

sincerly,
